But in 1911 it was all torn out to build a subway. The subway cause the population to grow rapidly. St. Jacobi's Church is on the left, and a horse drawn wagon is on the right. Global warming halted its advance and left the ridge that we know as 6th Ave - the highest point in Brooklyn. The glacier left behind a "kettle hole" from which this lake was made.
